May
This is an open invitation for anyone to join ‘Friends Who Lunch’. They are a group of people from across the Chaplaincy, some go to church and others don’t, but they like to come together to share a meal and build on their friendships. On Tuesday 14th April we met at Tipico Espanol in Playa Blanca. The food was absolutely delicious and great value and it was so lovely to meet new people socially.
The next one is12th May at La Opera Playa Honda at 13.00. Details and booking via Deirdre (Contact details below) It promises to be a great meal.
On Sunday 19th we formally Admitted Deirdre Macfarlane – Archer and Derek Eastman to their Office of Church Warden. Both of them attended both services and we had some delightful refreshments in between. Every Blessing to them both throughout their service.
The advertisements for our new Permanent Chaplain went live on 19th April, and we will keep you informed of any progress. This is very exciting.
Sadly the process is fairly expensive. The last one cost us in the region of €3000. So we are appealing for support for that. It may be even more this time if we have to pay for accommodation costs when the applicant visits.
If you would like to make a donation towards this or the Chaplaincy expenses in general, our bank details are:

Please speak with any members of Council in advance if there are items you would like discussed.
Don’t forget the great Feast of Pentecost on 24th May. It is a time not only when we celebrate the great coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church, but also we honour the gifts of the Spirit that each one of us has received. It is a glorious feast so please join us.
On 23rd May we are hosting an evening of Bingo and Bubbles at Hanky Panky's in Puerto Del Carmen. It's going to be a fun night of fellowship and it would be wonderful to see you there.
Fr Marcus, our Pastoral Lead Locum Chaplain sadly left the Island at the end of April, but he is still available to us all via email [email protected]
If you want to hear his lovely voice you can always tune in to Seaside Hospital Radio at seasidehr.com where he has a live show every Sunday Evening from 7-9pm UK time. Why not email him and make a request?
We are delighted to welcome back Rev Tony Bell as our Locum until the end of June.
For those of us who are keen to make life as easy as possible it would be brilliant to have a list of people who could help us with things that are beyond our own skills. So we are going to compile a list of Trades People – Plumbers – Decorators – Electricians – Painters – Mobile Mechanics – Handyman -Mobile Hairdressers etc etc who have been recommended by you.
So, if you think this is a good idea please send Fr Marcus a copy of the details of anyone you know including their name, phone number, and where they are based. Please include whether they speak English and or Spanish. He will then compile a list and circulate it, plus there will be list available with the Wardens and Secretary. Maybe we could call it ‘People who do!’
